The Dragon Boat Festival holiday is approaching. In order to implement the "Civil Servant Integrity Ethics Code", the Kaohsiung National Taxation Bureau of the Ministry of Finance requires tax officers to suspend sensitive operations one week before the Dragon Boat Festival holiday (from May 24 to May 30, 2015), except for special business needs, such as proactively contacting taxpayers to provide tax account information, interviews or talks, etc., to avoid unnecessary contact with the public, bookkeepers or business persons. At the same time, the public is urged to plan ahead if they need to conduct business at the counter.
The Kaohsiung National Taxation Bureau of the Ministry of Finance stated that tax obligations are closely related to the rights and interests of the people. It is the duty of tax officials to handle taxes with love and provide friendly, enthusiastic and professional services. The government strictly stipulates that civil servants should abide by the anti-corruption ethics code of "not accepting gifts, not attending banquets, and refusing lobbying." Therefore, when the public goes to public agencies to apply for various types of business, please do not give any money or property as gifts, let alone bribe civil servants, to avoid breaking the law. If you encounter a tax officer who demands or accepts money or property under any pretext during or outside the administrative process, you may report it to the Bureau’s Political Affairs Office (07-7111003) or call the Ministry of Justice’s Independent Commission Against Corruption hotline at 0800-286-586 (you report, I report).
The bureau also reminded the public that fraud is rampant nowadays and the IRS will not call taxpayers to notify them of the relevant operations of the tax refund process at the ATM. The public is requested to be vigilant and pay attention to fraud calls. If you have any questions, you can call the toll-free service number 0800-000-321 or the 165 anti-fraud hotline for verification.
