The Customs Administration stated that it held two "115th Ministry of Finance Customs Administration Customs Brokerage, Bonded Warehouse and Logistics Center Personal Data File Security Maintenance Management Measures Seminar" on April 29 and May 6 of the same year, and invited Xu Zheming, a legal researcher at the Institute of Science and Technology Law of the Information Industry Promotion Foundation, to serve as a lecturer, hoping to assist the businesses under its jurisdiction to implement the security maintenance of personal data (hereinafter referred to as personal data) files.
The Customs Administration further explained that if companies fail to implement personal information protection, once a personal information leak occurs, they will not only be fined, but also lose their own business secrets and consumer trust, and may even jeopardize the survival of the company, which cannot be ignored. In order to help businesses quickly understand the trends of the latest draft amendment to the Personal Data Protection Act of our country in 2015, to remind the customs brokerage industry, bonded warehouses and logistics centers of the key points of the personal data file security maintenance management regulations, to write the key points of the "Personal Data File Security Maintenance Plan" and "Personal Data Security Maintenance Self-Checklist", and to understand the measures and reporting methods to be taken when personal data security incidents occur, this seminar was conducted in parallel in person and via video, and a quiz with prizes was held. A total of 174 businesses and 448 people actively participated, and the seminar was a complete success.
In order to help businesses obtain important information from the seminar, the Customs Administration has uploaded the seminar briefing and published it on its official website (URL: https://web.customs.gov.tw , Homepage/Information Convergence/Agency (Public) Information/Personal Information Law Disclosure Zone/Customs Broker Personal Information Information Zone). You are welcome to make use of it. The Customs Administration also reminds businesses that if any security incident occurs in which personal data is stolen, altered, damaged, lost or leaked, they should submit a "Personal Data Infringement Incident Report and Record Form" to the agency via email within 72 hours from the time the incident is discovered.
